The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is all about helping undergraduate students develop professionally outside of the classroom. Thus when the SPS National Council met in September, not only was the group working to shape the future of the society, it was also real-time professional development for the student members of the Council who were being immersed in leadership and communications activities.
In what has become an annual tradition, SPS presented the Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award at the AAPT 2015 Winter Meeting. Randy Booker of the University of North Carolina at Asheville was the distinguished 2014 recipient.
In March, ten SPS undergraduate members joined hundreds of other researchers, educators, and STEM leaders from AAS, APS, AVS, and many other organizations for this year’s Science, Engineering, and Technology Congressional Visit Days (SET CVD).
