Heather Moreland

Associate Professor of Mathematics

I graduated from Linfield College (now University) with a degree in mathematics and physics.  I obtained my Master's degree in mathematics from Oregon State University and my Ph.D. in mathematics from Montana State University.  My research is in the area of mathematical biology, specifically wave phenomena in pancreatic islets.  My other interests include astronomy and astrophysics.  I am currently a tenured, associate professor of mathematics at Southwest Minnesota State University.  This is a four-year public university where I enjoy mentoring students in undergraduate mathematics research, usually applied in nature.  I have also spearheaded the creation of an applied mathematics major at my university.  When I am not involved in academic interests, I am an avid tennis fan and classically trained pianist.

I am always eager to assist young physicists and scientists as they navigate the career market.  It is my goal to pay forward all of the assistance and advice that I have received in my time to the future generations!
