Keegan was born with a passion for a general understanding of the physical properties underpinning the universe. Coming into contact with the study of physics and calculus in high school cemented his desire to become a research physicist, specifically in the field of fusion power. During his undergraduate career, he has paved his own path, taking many independent study courses to further his understanding of the physics of fluids and plasmas. Aside from his rich academic background, Keegan has participated as a member and officer of SPS since his second semester of undergraduate study, filling the positions of secretary, treasurer, and president; the latter for two full terms. His chapter has won both the Outstanding Chapter award and the Distinguished Chapter award for its outreach and student engagement activities. He is a member of Sigma Pi Sigma, a founding member of Physics Student Innovators and Alumni, and a member of the Physics for Humans project. Keegan is also employed by his department as an assistant lab coordinator and tutor, as well as a student instructor for the mathematics department.
