Howdy!
My name is Meagan Saldua and I am a senior at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. I am a double major in Applied Physics and Mathematics. Initially, I was not a physics major. I started out as just a math major, and after taking a physical science course, I knew that I had to see what physics was all about. So, I immediately changed my major to a double major after my first year in college and I haven't looked back since!
I currently serve as the Fundraising Chair for our local SPS chapter. I'm the one that nags people for either their "time" or their "money" because it's for a good cause! I am also an active member of our local Peer Pressure Team. We travel to local schools and perform outreach demonstrations. I was also inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma Physics Honor Society this semester! Outside of physics, I am the Secretary for the local chapter of Alpha Chi National Honor Society.
I am from Stafford, Texas, which is a 7 square mile town on the southwest side of Houston. Although there are a few things that I miss about a big city, I do enjoy the West Texas atmosphere. In my spare time, I enjoy watching reality TV, cooking, playing with my Jack Russell “Terror”, Roxy, and watching the Houston Astros!
I have not had the opportunity to travel very far from my Texas comfort zone, but I have been to Puerto Rico! I have never been to Washington, DC, so I am very excited about this summer and I look forward to meeting everyone!
See you soon!
Meagan Saldua
