SPS Awards
SPS awards are generously funded by donations from Sigma Pi Sigma members.

Future Faces of Physics Award
Applications due October 15
Awarded to chapters for physics outreach designed to promote physics across cultures. $500 maximum, awarded to several chapters annually.

Marsh W. White Award
Proposals due November 15
Awarded to chapters for physics outreach to grades K-12 and the general public. $500 maximum, awarded to several chapters annually.

SPS Chapter Research Award
Proposals due November 15
Awarded to chapters for physics research projects. $2,000 maximum, awarded to several chapters annually. Formerly known as the Sigma Pi Sigma Undergraduate Research Award.

SPS Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Research
Applications due March 15
Given to one or more SPS members annually, awards $500 honorarium for winner and $500 for the SPS Chapter. Pays expenses for winner to attend and present a paper at the annual International Association of Physics Students (IAPS), which is usually held in Europe. Formerly known as the Outstanding Student Award for Undergraduate Research.

Blake Lilly Prize
Applications due April 15
Given to two or more chapters and/or individuals for feedback from physics outreach programs. Open to all SPS members and chapters, for which the three-volume set The Feynman Lectures on Physics and a certificate are given. Established by the parents of the late Blake Lilly, and given in his memory.

Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award
Applications due April 15
Given annually to a chapter advisor who has been nominated by chapter student members. The award is a grant of $5,000 to be divided three ways: 60% to the Chapter Advisor, 20% to the Chapter, and the remaining 20% to the department.

SPS Outstanding Chapter Awards
Chapter Reports due June 15
SPS Outstanding Chapter Awards, selected by Zone Councilors and Associate Zone Councilors, are determined by the chapter's involvement in local, zone and national SPS meetings and events.

SPS Travel Awards
A limited number of grants, typically $200 each, will be offered to help fund an SPS members' travel to a national meeting of an AIP Member Society. Examples of qualifying events include the recent SPS sessions at the January and August national meetings of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT).

SPS Reporter Awards
The SPS national office offers partial support, typically $200, for SPS chapters to travel and report on AIP Member Society meetings where SPS Research Sessions are scheduled. The funding is awarded to the chapter, with the mandate that funds go toward travel expenses.

Student Fellowships in Physics & Society
Application deadline postponed until further notice.
Open to undergraduate or graduate students in physics who will be awarded up to $4,000 each to support a project that applies physics to a societal issue. Sponsored by the APS Forum on Physics and Society in partnership with SPS and the APS Forum on Graduate Student Affairs.
