Simren is a pursuing a B.S. in Applied Physics with minors in Astronomy and Math set to graduate in May 2021. As a leader on the board of the Society of Physics Students, she enjoys communicating with faculty, students, and members of the community to organize monthly events that encourage student involvement across campus. Her leadership and interpersonal skills have led her to become Co-President of the Women in STEM organization on campus where she develops ways for students across multiple STEM disciplines to collaborate with faculty and learn about diversity and inclusion in school and the workplace. As well as working as a docent at the observatory on campus leading public outreach events and teaching astronomy to all ages, she also works at the school’s career center and as an intern teaching local middle schoolers topology on top of coursework.
Her love for collaborating with people of diverse backgrounds, but also strong ability to work autonomously toward her goals, led her to organize a semester abroad her sophomore year while taking programming classes. She hopes her future professional experience allows her to continue to collaborate with, and learn from, innovative people from many backgrounds in a technical industry.
