Associate Councilor RepresentativeEmail:
Samuel Borer is a senior at the University of Maine, studying physics and mathematics. After spending his early childhood pursing a professional career in dance and dance theory, an unfortunate accident redirected his path towards Maine and science. Following in his father's footsteps, after his first semester, he joined the United States Air Force as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Warfare Specialist. He has been given the opportunity to travel the world, including deployments to Kuwait and Afghanistan. At the University of Maine, he serves as the Student Body Representative to the UMaine System Board of Trustees, the Student Body Representative to the Provost's Council, and as a board member on the Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Prevention Committee and the Code of Conduct Committee. After pursuing his research interests within the UMaine Physics Department, he became an undergraduate researcher in Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory's Neutrino Division, specifically in the LArIAT and ArgoNeuT Collaborations. These experiences have allowed him to present his research at conferences at Fermilab, the National Conference for Undergraduate Research, and more. Outside of academics, Samuel has been a tireless advocate against sexual assault, relationship violence, and the support of sound science policy. Samuel is an avid ultra-distance runner, scuba diver, hiker, and photographer.
