I am a sophomore student majoring in Chemistry and Physics with a minor in Computer Science. I’ve served as my chapters’ public relations chair as a first year, president this academic year, and will serve as my chapters’ secretary for the 2021-22 academic year.
Since my first year at Lycoming College, I have been heavily involved with my SPS chapter. After my first event with our community, I knew I had found my family on campus. Amazingly, my chapter managed to fund myself and nine other students to attend PhysCon2019, which further inspired my involvement in our chapter. When our Public Relations chair had to step down for personal issues that spring, I quickly nominated myself for the position. I managed our social media for the remainder of the semester and was elected president for this academic year.
This year was particularly challenging for our chapter, as the pandemic forced us to cancel all off-campus events. We managed to fund our club to attend two in-person and several virtual events—including the SPS zone 3 meeting and a virtual conference. We were the only club on campus that was permitted to hold an in-person event last semester. Our executive board also did a lot of re-organization this semester, including a revamped website, constitution, document archive, and official chapter email.
Outside of our chapter, I am the resident assistant of a stem floor on campus, a mathematics, chemistry, and physics tutor, and a student senator. These positions allow me to represent our chapter and campus in a multitude of aspects. I particularly enjoy mentoring my floor and advising them, as we share a common interest in STEM. I was elected as the secretary of our chapter for this coming academic year. I am excited to continue creating documentation for future officers and archiving resources for them. If I am elected to this position, I anticipate I will have more time to devote to AZC position, considering that I have reduced my external responsibilities.
