Introduction

Hey ya’ll,

My name is Mary Elizabeth Mills (you can just call me Mary) and this fall I’ll be a senior physics major. I go to the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio – a small town in northern Ohio. I originally started out as an astrophysics major at Agnes Scott College but after participating
in an REU at Wooster in 2006, I decided to transfer. This year I have become very involved in our Outreach program. I love going to local elementary schools to teach kids about physics and show them lots of cool demos. I am also the secretary for our SPS chapter next year.

I am really excited about working on the SPS Outreach Catalyst Kit and the Nucleus. I’m also excited about meeting you all and living in DC. Because I go to school in a small town, I haven’t had a great deal of experience dealing with big cities and as terrified as I am, I can’t wait to explore.

Besides physics and astronomy, I’m involved in the music department. I love playing the French horn and singing. I also enjoy watching movies, reading, listening to indie and alternative music, playing board games, and being a vegetarian.

—Mary
