Dr. David Brown, Professor of Physics at the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY (UL), and advisor to the UL Chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS), was presented with the 2005 SPS Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award at the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) Winter Meeting in Anchorage, AK, on January 23, 2006. SPS President Dr. Earl Blodgett presented the Award, which consists of a plaque and a $5,000 prize, with $3,000 going to Dr. Brown and $1,000 going to both the UL physics department and the UL SPS chapter.
Dr. Brown has been an Assistant Professor of Physics at UL since 1995, and is now Acting Head of the Physics Department. He has been the SPS Chapter Advisor at UL for seven years, and the Chapter recently received its seventh consecutive Outstanding Chapter Award.
Brown received a BS in Mathematics and Physics from Eastern Michigan University in 1997, followed by an MS in Physics from Purdue University in 1990 and a PhD in Physics in 1992, also from Purdue. His main research interests are in high energy physics.
