Investigation of the Structure of Ceseium Borate Glass by Neutron Diffraction Analysis
Final Report
Abstract
A neutron diffraction investigation into the structure of three glasses in the Cs2OB2O3 system is reported, and the results compared to those for vitreous B2O3. Data have been obtained to high values of the scattering vector magnitude, Q, in order to obtain high real space resolution in the total correlation functions, T(r). |
Construction of a Scintillator Detector for High Energy Cosmic Ray Showers
Final Report
Abstract
We are researching
a variety of computational problems in nuclear physics, shock-wave physics, solid-state physics, fluid mechanics, and quantum mechanics. These student projects would be greatly facilitized by the building and running of a Linux-based Beowulf cluster, which speeds up Fortran and C++ physics computations through parallel processing. We request funds to build a small scale Beowulf cluster (5 computers) for which we are committed to matching any funds received from SPS/Sigma Pi Sigma.
