Zone 12 2006 Spring Meeting
The Fort Hays State University chapter of SPS hosted the Zone 12 Spring 2006 Meeting on Saturday, April 8th. Due to bad weather the BBQ was moved from Friday night to Saturday afternoon. There were two chapters in attendance on Saturday: FHSU and the University of Central Oklahoma.
The meeting started off with a talk from our invited speaker, Dr. Herman Batelaan of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He spoke to us about his work in matter interferometry.
Our first student talk was given by Brian Zabovnik from UCO. He spoke about his work with thermoacoustics. Next Lance Irvin from FHSU talked about modeling laser propagation. Our last student speaker was Paul Maseberg from FHSU. He talked about a three dimensional model of thermal response of tissue.
There were also four posters displayed at the meeting. Students displaying posters were Paul Maseberg, Shayne Riley, Jess LeCount, Matt Wood, and Joan Dreiling all of FHSU. The BBQ followed the student talks.
