Dave Donnelly received his Ph.D in physics from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1990. He has been a member of the faculty at Texas State University-San Marcos since 2000, and in 2004 received the Presidential Award for Excellence in teaching. He has served as an SPS chapter advisor since 1993, and was named outstanding chapter advisor in 1995. He served as Zone Councilor for Zone 13 from 1999-2005, and has served as editor of The Nucleus since 2002. He has also served on several SPS committees since 2005. His research interests are in Physics Education, specifically, the effect of introductory courses on beliefs and attitudes, application of Conceptual Blending theory to student learning in upper division physics, and development of physics identity through participation in communities of practice.
